Will a Remote Employee Work in Your Time Zone?

Yes. Bangladesh Standard Time is UTC+6 all year, and working hours are fixed in the contract. Here is what a 9:00–17:00 day in your city means in Dhaka.

Your city Your 9:00–17:00 in Dhaka (your standard time) During your daylight saving time
New York / Toronto 20:00–04:00 19:00–03:00
Los Angeles / Vancouver 23:00–07:00 22:00–06:00
London 15:00–23:00 14:00–22:00

Middle East clients get a near-normal Dhaka working day. For North American hours, agree an evening or night shift in the contract; for Europe, a late shift or a few hours of overlap usually works.

Why Hire Remote Employees in Bangladesh?

Companies abroad hire remote employees in Bangladesh for a large online-skilled workforce, lower overheads than an office hire, and full-time commitment that freelancers don’t offer.

01 — Talent pool

A Large Online-Skilled Workforce

A 2017 Oxford Internet Institute study found Bangladesh supplied about 16% of the world’s online workers, second only to India.

02 — Cost

Lower Overheads

A remote employee needs no office lease, furniture or utilities from you. You pay for the role, not the building around it.

03 — Commitment

Dedicated, Not Shared

A salaried employee works only for your company and builds knowledge of your business over time, unlike a freelancer splitting time across clients.

Frequently Asked Questions From International Clients

Straight answers to what clients in the USA, Europe, Australia and the Middle East ask us first.

Who is the legal employer of my remote employee?

PayrollBangladesh. The employee signs a local employment contract with PayrollBangladesh, which runs payroll, tax and HR in Bangladesh. Your company directs the daily work.

Do I need a company or branch in Bangladesh?

No. Because PayrollBangladesh employs the person locally, companies in the USA, UK, Europe, Australia or the Middle East can hire in Bangladesh without registering a branch, liaison office or subsidiary.

Who owns the work my remote employee creates?

Your company does. Every employment contract includes an intellectual property assignment in your favour.

Is my confidential information protected?

Yes. Every employment contract includes a non-disclosure agreement covering your business information.

Can I pay in US dollars?

Yes. PayrollBangladesh invoices in US dollars or Bangladeshi taka.

How do I know the candidate’s English is good enough?

You interview every shortlisted candidate yourself, so you judge their spoken and written English directly before making an offer. State the level you need in the job description.

Can my remote employee work US or European business hours?

Yes. Working hours, including evening or night shifts, are agreed in the employment contract before the start date. Under Bangladesh law, a female employee may work between 10 pm and 6 am only with her consent.

Can I hire someone I have already found?

Yes. If you have already chosen the candidate, PayrollBangladesh can act as their employer of record, issue the contract and run payroll without a recruitment process.

Is a remote employee the same as a freelancer?

No. A freelancer is self-employed and usually works for several clients. A remote employee is a salaried, full-time employee who works only for your company, under a contract with an NDA and IP assignment.

Bangladesh Employment Rules We Handle for You

General information for foreign companies hiring remote employees in Bangladesh. It is not legal advice, and rules change, so we confirm the current position for your case in writing.

  • Who counts as a “worker” is decided by duties, not job title. The Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act 2026 revised the definition of “worker” in section 2(65) of the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 to cover skilled, technical and clerical work regardless of designation. People employed mainly in a managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity remain outside it, but their actual duties decide, so we set each remote employee’s duties out in the appointment letter.Source: Legal 500
  • Working hours and night work. An adult worker normally works up to 8 hours a day and 48 hours a week. With overtime, daily hours may not exceed 10, and overtime is paid at twice the ordinary basic wage. Under section 109, a woman may work between 10 pm and 6 am only with her consent.Source: Bangladesh Labour Act 2006, Chapter IX
  • Holidays and leave. Paid festival holidays rose from 11 to 13 days a year, and maternity leave from 112 to 120 days, under the 2025–2026 reforms. Casual, sick and annual leave also apply.Source: Prothom Alo
  • Festival bonuses. Under the Bangladesh Labour Rules 2015, a worker with one year of continuous service receives two festival bonuses a year, each not exceeding one month’s basic wage.Source: OGR Legal
  • Income tax on salary. Salary is taxed under the Income Tax Act 2023. As the employer, PayrollBangladesh withholds tax at source from monthly salary and handles the related filings.
